THE SHOW:
Based on the true story of conjoined twins Violet and Daisy Hilton, who became stars during the Depression, Side Show is a moving portrait of two women joined at the hip whose extraordinary bondage brings them fame but denies them love. Told almost entirely in song, the show follows Violet and Daisy's progression from England to America, around the vaudeville circuit, and to Hollywood on the eve of their appearance in the 1932 movie Freaks.

PREPARE:
PREPARE ONE song from Side Show AND ONE song of your choice (see details below):
- Prepare to sing ONE 16-32 bar cut from a song of your choice (from any musical that is NOT Side Show) that best shows off your voice.
- How to prepare the accompaniment music for the song of your choice for auditions: If copied, hole‐punch the music and put in a binder. The music should be on the front and back of each page. If only printed on one side, tape the pages together so they are back‐to‐back or put them back to back in a non-glare sleeve. If music is bound, it should lay flat when open. Mark where you would like the accompanist to start and stop.
- Prepare to sing ONE piece from the 4 selections below from Side Show that BEST suits your voice. Please note that choosing a certain song does not mean you won't be considered for one of the many other parts in the show. The cuts in the music have been noted for you, and rehearsal tracks have also been provided. You do not need to bring accompaniment music for your song from Side Show to the audition.
è BOTH of your audition songs (song from Side Show AND song of your choice) should be memorized.
- There will be a brief dance call — please dress appropriately
- You will be asked to read a scene — no preparation needed.
WEAR:
- Shoes and appropriate clothes for dance (no flip flops, crocs, etc.) — you will be taught a short dance combination to be performed in a group.
BRING:
- Sheet music in a binder for your audition song in the key in which you will sing (sheet music is available in local music stores and online — www.sheetmusicplus.com or www.musicnotes.com for example). An Accompanist will be provided (“a cappella” audition songs will not be accepted).
